"Changing seasons are the continuous cycles of nature and have always been a fascination of Japanese art and way of life. Now it is the source of inspiration for my work.
This inspiration is not only in Japan but can be found anywhere, in waters elusive movements, whenever Koi Carp move through water and break the reflections of the summer clouds on the surface. Or with the crash of a stormy sea wave breaking into mist. Petals of a cherry tree blossoming and being blown by spring winds.
These subjects are all mine to paint using my brush strokes and I wish to be bold and free, painting with an open spirit."
Images of Japan
Yuko worked as a graphic designer before coming to England in 1980. Living in London she studied and worked on etchings and drawings and held exhibitions. She moved to Derbyshire in 1987 where she found a new interest in water colour and the way it captured the beauty of landscapes.
Her fresh impressions of English landscapes made many fans and she has had a number of exhibitions in the local area, London and Japan. Her series of paintings entitled “Images of Japan” were first created in the new year of 2000. She wanted to give an insight into her own images of where she came from and to express her past, for the new millennium.
Her paintings have now transformed into a search about herself. At the moment her main interest is “Water” and more specifically the “Sea”. Being raised near the coast of the Pacific Ocean, it is a subject naturally close to her heart and her pictures reflect her inner feelings and memories of sounds and smells she’s experienced growing up.
